From Our Correspondent

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh IT, Electronics and HRD Minister Nara Lok has held a high-level meeting with the Board of Airbus, led by Chairman René Oberman and the President & MD of Airbus India & South Asia. This marks the first-ever visit of the Airbus board to India, as the $180-billion aerospace major explores opportunities under ‘Make in India’ and indigenisation.

Lokesh presented Andhra Pradesh’s proposal to host a large-scale aerospace manufacturing facility anchored by Airbus, supported by co-located Tier-1 and Tier-2 vendors for integrated supply chains.

Policy, land, and ecosystem readiness

The state offered ready-to-allot industrial land parcels, a forward-looking aerospace policy, and multi-corridor siting options with connectivity to airports, ports, and logistics routes. Andhra Pradesh also invited Airbus to establish an integrated vendor ecosystem to improve localisation, reduce costs, and accelerate project timelines.

Highlighting the administration’s “investor-first” approach, Lokesh underscored time-bound clearances, single-window do, and the track record of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in bringing global investments to the state. “Airbus represents the gold standard in global aerospace, and Andhra Pradesh is prepared to deliver a competitive home for complex manufacturing with full ecosystem support,” he said.

  • Progressive aerospace policy with incentives for MSMEs

  • Corridor flexibility across strategic locations

  • Single-window investor facilitation and fast approvals

  • Industry-aligned talent and skilling through institutional partnerships

The proposal is part of Andhra Pradesh’s wider strategy to make Visakhapatnam and Amaravati aerospace corridors central to India’s advanced manufacturing drive. If Airbus takes the pitch forward, it would mark the largest global aerospace investment in the state, cementing Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to emerge as a hub for defence and civil aviation manufacturing.
