Kakinada: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders waiving stamp duty and registration charges for the proposed AM Green Ammonia project in Kakinada, providing incentives under the AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024.
The waiver, notified on Thursday, comes as a major relief to the company, which had acquired land from the defunct Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd (NFCL) for setting up its large-scale green ammonia manufacturing unit. AM Green Ammonia B.V. is a Greenko Group venture, founded by Anil Chalamalasetty.
The registration department had valued the asset at ₹1,163 crore, while the government’s market valuation stood at ₹782 crore, leading to a prolonged dispute over registration and stamp duty charges. With the new government order, the state has granted concessions amounting to ₹203.64 crore, covering stamp duty, registration fees, and penal charges.
The AM Green Ammonia project, involving an investment of around ₹10,000 crore, will produce one million tonnes of green hydrogen-based ammonia per year in its initial phase. The company plans to expand capacity to five million tonnes by 2030.
The plant will use advanced technology and renewable energy sources to produce eco-friendly fuel, marking a significant step toward the state’s green energy goals. Industry sources estimate that the first phase of the project will create employment for about 1,100 people.
The decision underscores the Naidu government’s push to make Andhra Pradesh a hub for clean energy and sustainable industrial investments.
