Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced a ₹2.5 crore cash reward, a 1,000 sq. yard residential plot in Kadapa, and a Group-I officer post in the Andhra Pradesh government for Telugu cricketer Sri Charani, a member of the Indian women’s team that won the Cricket World Cup.
The Chief Minister made the announcement during a meeting with Sri Charani at his camp office on Friday. Minister for IT and Sports Nara Lokesh was also present.
Naidu congratulated Sri Charani on her contribution to India’s historic World Cup victory, describing it as a proud moment for the nation and an inspiration for young women. “The triumph has showcased the strength and talent of Indian women on the global stage,” he said, expressing confidence that Sri Charani would bring more laurels to the country in the future.
During the interaction, the cricketer shared her World Cup experiences with the Chief Minister and Minister Lokesh and thanked the state government for its encouragement. She also presented a team jersey signed by all members of the women’s squad to the Chief Minister, which he accepted warmly, wishing the team continued success.
Former India women’s team captain Mithali Raj accompanied Sri Charani during the meeting. Earlier in the day, Sri Charani received a grand welcome at Gannavaram Airport, where ministers Anitha, Savitha, and Sandhya Rani, Andhra Cricket Association president Keshineni Chinni, secretary Sana Satish, and SHARP chairman Animini Ravinaidu greeted her.
Minister Nara Lokesh later welcomed Sri Charani at the Chief Minister’s camp office, praising her achievement as a proud moment for Andhra Pradesh and the nation.
