Visakhapatnam: Coromandel International Limited, part of the Murugappa Group, has announced a major investment of ₹2,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh to expand its fertiliser production and establish green ammonia and green hydrogen projects. The company formalised this commitment by signing an MoU with the state government in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Coromandel, one of India’s leading fertiliser and agri-input manufacturers, already operates large production units in Visakhapatnam and Kakinada. The proposed investment marks a significant expansion of its presence in the state, aimed at boosting sustainable agri-industrial development.
Chief Minister Naidu, who met with Coromandel’s representatives Executive Chairman Arun Alagappan and CEO Sankara Subramaniyan in Visakhapatnam, discussed opportunities in agri-tech and renewable chemical production. He welcomed the company’s decision, describing it as a major step toward positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for green manufacturing and agri-based industries.
The agreement was part of a series of meetings Naidu held with industry leaders, where he showcased the state’s investor-friendly ecosystem and urged companies to collaborate with the Economic Development Board (EDB) for project facilitation and policy support.
