AM Green to Invest ₹54,000 Crore for Green Aluminium, 2G Ethanol Projects

Visakhapatnam: In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s green industrial ambitions, AM Green, a global leader in sustainable energy and materials, signed multiple MoUs with the state government to set up large-scale projects in green aluminium, 2G ethanol, and sustainable aviation fuel. The agreements were formalized in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal during the opening day of the 30th CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam.

As part of the pact, AM Green will establish a green aluminium complex with a production capacity of one million tonnes per annum at U. Kothapalli near Uppada in Kakinada district, involving an investment of ₹40,000 crore. The facility will focus on producing low-carbon aluminium using renewable power, aligning with global decarbonization targets.

The company will also invest ₹10,000 crore to set up a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production unit using biomass feedstock. In addition, AM Green will establish second-generation ethanol bio-refineries in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli districts, strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s bioenergy ecosystem. In total, the firm’s green initiatives are expected to bring ₹54,000 crore in investments to the state.

Logistics Data Services

On the logistics front, the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) Logistics Data Services Ltd. entered into an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop a Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP). The initiative, implemented through AP Logistics Corporation’s AP-Link, will integrate ports, airports, rail, road, and warehousing systems to streamline logistics and improve supply chain efficiency across districts.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh attracted a fresh wave of green energy investments worth ₹2.37 lakh crore, with companies such as Hinduja Renewables, Essar Renewables, and GMR Energy signing MoUs in sectors including solar, wind, green hydrogen, green ammonia, pumped hydro, and battery storage projects.

Officials said the new projects are expected to generate over two lakh employment opportunities, further positioning Andhra Pradesh as India’s emerging green manufacturing and logistics hub.
