From Our Correspondent

Amaravati: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has called for tenders to construct the Amaravati Quantum Computation Centre (AQCC), the flagship facility within the state’s upcoming 50-acre Quantum Valley. The building—set to host IBM’s first quantum computer in Andhra Pradesh—will be constructed on a 2-acre site in a G+1 format, with a built-up area of 45,000 sq ft.

The estimated cost of construction is ₹99.62 crore, which is expected to rise to around ₹125 crore after taxes and additional technical requirements. The Information Technology Department will bear the expenditure, while CRDA will oversee execution. Bids can be submitted until November 28.

Officials said the AQCC must meet stringent standards for environmental control, vibration isolation, and electromagnetic compatibility—critical for hosting a full-scale quantum computer. Nearly 70% of the project cost will be spent on specialized systems needed to maintain a highly controlled environment inside the building.

A dedicated expert committee formed under the state’s Quantum Mission will evaluate the technical and financial bids before finalising the contractor.

The Amaravati Quantum Valley is envisioned as a cutting-edge research and innovation cluster aimed at positioning Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in quantum technologies. Planned across 50 acres, the zone will house research labs, advanced computing facilities, and industry partnerships. The AQCC will serve as its core, anchoring collaborations with global technology companies such as IBM.
