Amaravati’s Quantum Valley Poised to Become Global Research Hub, Says CM Chandrababu Naidu

India’s First Quantum Biomedical Research Ecosystem Proposed in Amaravati

From Our Correspondent

Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the upcoming Quantum Valley in Amaravati should evolve into a world-class centre for advanced research, driving breakthroughs in education, healthcare, drug discovery, and materials science.

Addressing researchers, academics and technology entrepreneurs from multiple countries at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre will soon begin operations, supported by IBM, TCS and L&T. He noted that the initiative aligns with the National Quantum Mission and signals the creation of a full-fledged quantum ecosystem in the capital region.

A global consortium of scientists briefed Naidu on plans to establish a Global Quantum Bio Foundry in Amaravati—India’s first quantum biomedical research ecosystem. With an investment of ₹200 crore, the centre will focus on molecular modelling, drug discovery simulations and materials research. The team also expressed readiness to expand into biosensors and other public-benefit applications.

Congratulating the consortium, Naidu said that significant research must be directed toward next-generation pharmaceuticals and healthcare solutions. He added that the Quantum Valley will support a wide spectrum of sectors, including agriculture, education, defence, transportation and biotech, by offering state-of-the-art quantum resources.

The Chief Minister said institutions such as IITs, universities and major research organisations will gain a central hub through the Quantum Computing Centre, enabling pioneering work and industry collaboration.

Drawing parallels with the success of Hyderabad’s IT corridor and Genome Valley—both initiatives he championed during earlier tenures—Naidu said global interest in quantum technologies is accelerating, and Andhra Pradesh is well-positioned to attract frontier-tech companies.

Representatives of the Global Quantum Bio Foundry said Amaravati’s policies and emerging innovation environment were key reasons for choosing the state as their base.
