Andhra Pradesh Tops Nation in Fruit and Fish Production: RBI 2024–25 Data

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the top performer in the country in both fruit production and fish production, according to the latest 2024–25 economic statistics released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The report highlights the state’s agricultural strength as well as its contribution to the national food economy.

AP produced 1.93 crore tonnes of fruit, securing the No. 1 position nationally. Maharashtra ranked second with 1.68 crore tonnes, followed by Madhya Pradesh with 1.02 crore tonnes.

In terms of fruit orchard area, Andhra Pradesh stood second, cultivating fruits across 8.07 lakh hectares. Maharashtra topped the list with 8.96 lakh hectares under fruit cultivation.

AP Also Leads the Country in Fish Production

The RBI data shows Andhra Pradesh retaining its long-held leadership in fisheries. The state produced 51.58 lakh tonnes of fish, far ahead of the rest of the country. West Bengal followed with 22 lakh tonnes, while Uttar Pradesh ranked third with 11.60 lakh tonnes.

State Economy Estimated at ₹15.93 Lakh Crore

At current prices, Andhra Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2024–25 stands at ₹15.93 lakh crore, according to RBI estimates. At constant prices, the GSDP is pegged at ₹8.65 lakh crore.

The RBI further reports per capita GSDP at ₹2,66,240 at current prices and ₹1,41,609 at constant prices.

The data underscores Andhra Pradesh’s continued dominance in primary sectors and its growing economic output despite sectoral challenges nationwide.
