Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said the world records achieved in highway construction under the leadership of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari are a matter of pride for the entire country.
Both leaders participated virtually in a programme held in Sri Sathya Sai district to mark the achievement of four Guinness World Records on the Bengaluru–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (BKV). Congratulating the teams involved, the Chief Minister lauded the speed, efficiency and execution capacity demonstrated in building long stretches of six-lane national highways with continuous bituminous concrete paving.
Chandrababu Naidu praised the role of Rajpath Infracon and all officials involved, noting that records such as continuous paving of over 10,655 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete and rewriting the earlier 84.4 lane-km benchmark reflected India’s growing engineering capability. He said greenfield expressways were being taken up at an unprecedented pace and proposed that the new corridor connecting Amaravati and Bengaluru be officially named the Amaravati–Bengaluru Economic Corridor.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the achievement of four Guinness records on the corridor was possible due to innovation, strict quality standards and teamwork. He highlighted new technologies, including alternative materials for bitumen, and urged Andhra Pradesh to partner in adopting such innovations. Gadkari said the state government’s full cooperation had enabled faster execution of national highway projects.
Stating that India is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, Gadkari emphasised the need to reduce logistics costs and travel time. He described Chandrababu Naidu as a visionary leader who has dedicated his life to public welfare and development, and thanked him for the support extended in achieving the historic records.
