Amaravati: Amaravati has formally positioned itself on the global technology map with the launch of the Quantum Valley initiative, aimed at making the Andhra Pradesh capital a hub for quantum computing and deep-tech innovation.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with Union Minister for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh, laid the foundation stone for the Quantum Valley buildings on 50 acres allotted by CRDA at Uddandarayunipalem. The project will house India’s first quantum computing centre with two 133-qubit quantum systems, to be set up in partnership with IBM, TCS and L&T.
Quantum computing operations are scheduled to begin from December 2026. Ahead of the physical infrastructure, operations have already commenced with TCS launching online quantum cloud services, enabling access for government bodies, academic institutions and researchers.
An IBM-led Quantum Innovation Centre has been inaugurated to drive research and product development, while Wiser’s Centre of Excellence will focus on training quantum professionals. A reference facility with two indigenous quantum computers will be launched at the SRM University campus from April 14, marking International Quantum Day.
The Quantum Valley ecosystem is expected to support research across defence, healthcare, finance, energy, AI, cybersecurity and climate modelling, positioning Amaravati as India’s first purpose-built quantum technology city.
