Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious capital city project Amaravati took centre stage at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, where Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary of the State’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, made a detailed presentation on the city’s master plan and sustainable urban development strategies.
Addressing an international audience, Suresh Kumar outlined Amaravati’s transport, infrastructure, and environmental design features, positioning it as a model for future-ready, eco-smart urban development.
His presentation focused on key initiatives being implemented across Andhra Pradesh’s cities — including Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), Circular Economy principles, Net-Zero Energy goals, Electric Mobility promotion, and modern duct systems for utilities. He also detailed green building methods and the progress made through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects in the state.
The Smart City Expo World Congress, jointly organised by the Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, drew participation from over 1,100 delegates representing more than 100 countries. From Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam Commissioner Ketan Garg and Tirupati Commissioner N. Mourya also attended the global summit alongside Suresh Kumar.
