AP Posts Strong Q2 Growth; Naidu Highlights Sectoral Gains and Missed Potential

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday unveiled a detailed breakdown of the state’s Q2 GSDP performance for 2025–26, presenting sector-wise figures through a PowerPoint briefing. Agriculture, industry and services together recorded significant expansion, with the CM asserting that the state is back on a high-growth path after a slump in the previous five-year period.

In Q2, agriculture and allied sectors registered a GVA of ₹1,25,571 crore, industry ₹86,456 crore and services ₹1,60,075 crore. The industrial sector recorded the most dramatic improvement, rising from 2.78% to 12.20% and surpassing the national average. Agriculture grew 11.43%, horticulture 4.35%, fishing and aquaculture 26.27%, while livestock posted 4.18% growth. Paddy output rose 23.95%, and banana production surged an extraordinary 151%, the CM noted.

Industry segments saw broad-based expansion: mining grew 18.43%, manufacturing logged a GVA of ₹41,201 crore with 11.66% growth, and construction rose 11.81%. Power generation increased 19.12%, touching 26,837 million units.

In the services sector, hospitality reported 8.5% growth with a GVA of ₹25,292 crore, transport and logistics grew 5.99%, and real estate surged 14.31%. Ports handled 52.5 million tonnes of cargo, while 14.98 lakh passengers travelled by air in the quarter.

Naidu contrasted the current momentum with stagnation between 2019–24, when GSDP growth slipped to 10.32% from 13.49% during 2014–19, costing the state an estimated ₹7 lakh crore. He said the state has now regained momentum, with 2024–25 GSDP rising 12.02% against the national 9.8%.

For 2025–26, the government is targeting GVA of ₹17.12 lakh crore and GSDP of ₹18.65 lakh crore, aiming for 17.11% overall growth. The state has already achieved 41% of its annual target in the first half.
