Visakhapatnam: Urban Development Minister P. Narayana on Sunday conducted a detailed review meeting with officials of VMRDA and GVMC at the VMRDA office, directing them to expedite major infrastructure and development works across the city and its metropolitan region.
VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, and senior department officials briefed the minister on ongoing projects, including MIG layouts, master plan roads, and urban infrastructure.
Master Plan Roads to Bhogapuram Airport
Minister Narayana instructed officials to complete all seven master plan roads connecting Visakhapatnam to the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport within six months, calling the project critical for regional connectivity.
He also reviewed the progress of eight MIG housing projects under VMRDA and directed that roads, drains and essential infrastructure be completed at the earliest.
Iconic 50-Storey Tower, Theme-Based City Planned
The minister revealed major upcoming developments, including:

A 50-storey iconic tower, and
-
A theme-based city spread across 120 acres near New VUDA Colony (Walasa area)
These projects are expected to become new landmarks for the Visakhapatnam region, he said.
TIDCO Houses to Be Handed Over by June-End
Narayana asserted that all pending TIDCO housing units in the region will be completed and handed over to beneficiaries by the end of June, resolving long-pending housing issues.
Visakhapatnam Master Plan to Be Finalised on Time
The minister said the Visakhapatnam Master Plan design would be completed within the stipulated deadline. Progress on master plan roads, airport connectivity corridors and major water supply projects was also reviewed.
He instructed VMRDA and GVMC to ensure zero delays in all ongoing development works and to maintain strict timelines. “The city’s growth trajectory must not be slowed under any circumstances,” Narayana told officials.
