From Our Correspondent

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Government has approved the transfer of land for the establishment of a 1,000 MW AI-enabled Google Data Centre in Visakhapatnam. The project will be developed by Raiden Infotech India Pvt. Ltd., a Google affiliate, along with its notified partner entities. The government has also agreed to extend incentives for the mega investment, estimated at USD 15 billion.

As part of the approval, the government issued orders enabling land transfer to Raiden and its notified partners for the development of the data centre campus. The order warns that if the project is not completed within the stipulated timeframe and no valid reasons are provided, commercial action will be initiated against Raiden and its partner entities.

Raiden stated that it would monitor the project continuously and execute it to global standards within the agreed timelines.

  • 120 acres in Adavivaram and Mudarsarlova, Visakhapatnam district

  • 200 acres in Tarluvada, Anandapuram mandal

  • 160 acres in Rambilli, Anakapalli district

Raiden requested that the primary notified partner, Adani Infra (India) Pvt. Ltd., be handed the land parcels through APIIC. It proposed that, after completing initial groundwork, the land would be internally transferred among partner companies based on project needs.

Land Transfer Allocation

  • Rambilli: To be transferred to Nxtra Data or its affiliates for campus development

  • Tarluvada, Adavivaram, Mudarsarlova: To be transferred to Adani ConneX or its affiliates for data centre campus development

Notified Partner Firms

  • Bharti Airtel Ltd.

  • Nxtra Data Ltd. (Airtel subsidiary)

The government clarified that incentives would also apply to these notified partners involved in building the broader data centre ecosystem. However, prior approval is mandatory, and incentives will be released only after they make their required investments.

Project Conditions

The project will follow the DPR submitted on August 22, 2025. Raiden said Google, Google Cloud, and other affiliates remain committed to building the facility. The infrastructure will align with global data centre standards and Google’s technical architecture, supporting services such as Search, YouTube, and Workspace.

If any partner exits, Raiden must notify the government and suggest alternative arrangements for land reassignment to ensure project continuity.
