Infosys Set for Permanent Visakhapatnam Campus; Government Clears 20-Acre Allotment

From Our Correspondent

Amaravati: Global IT giant Infosys is gearing up to establish a permanent campus in Visakhapatnam, with the Andhra Pradesh government giving in-principle approval to allot 20 acres at Endada.

Senior officials have reportedly concluded negotiations with company representatives, and a formal announcement is expected later this month. Final discussions on the incentives to be extended to the project are said to be in their last stages, while proposals from the company relating to supporting infrastructure are currently under examination. Infosys and its subsidiaries operate campuses in nearly 50 countries.

The state began its latest round of talks with Infosys two months ago. At present, the company runs its Visakhapatnam operations from a temporary facility at the IT Hills.

Adding to the buzz, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh posted a cryptic message on social media: ‘#Vizag, get ready. The world champions are coming this month. Any guesses who?’ The post has fuelled speculation that he was referring to Infosys finalising its decision to set up a permanent campus in the city.

Efforts to bring Infosys to Visakhapatnam date back to N. Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure as Chief Minister between 2014 and 2019. The company eventually inaugurated its development centre in October 2023, during the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government, with an initial capacity for 1,000 employees in a hybrid model. The proposed permanent campus marks a significant expansion of Infosys’ presence in Andhra Pradesh.
