Vijayawada — In a major policy move, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced in the Assembly that Andhra Pradesh would soon host a Logistics University and an Aviation (Civil Aviation) University, both to be located in Visakhapatnam.
These institutions are part of a broader push to position Andhra Pradesh as a multi-modal logistics and aviation hub on India’s east coast. He also revealed plans to establish an AP Logistics Infrastructure Corporation aimed at coordinating development of ports, airports, warehouses, inland waterways, and related logistics infrastructure.
Naidu appealed to shipping and logistics industry leaders to form a 20-member advisory body to help shape policy and institutional design. He said these universities would enhance human capital and research in critical sectors, complementing infrastructure upgrades as Andhra Pradesh seeks to capture a larger share of trade, reduce logistics costs, and drive economic growth.
The announcement signalled the government’s intention to move from rhetoric to institution-building, embedding education and research into its long-term logistics and aviation strategy.
