Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday unveiled an expansive vision for a proposed Quantum Valley in Amaravati, declaring that Andhra Pradesh aims to build a complete quantum technology ecosystem and produce quantum computers locally within the next two years.
Addressing nearly 50,000 engineering and science students through a large-scale online and on-ground interaction, Naidu said the state’s ambition goes well beyond research labs. The plan, he said, is to develop an end-to-end ecosystem covering quantum hardware manufacturing, software development, workforce training and access to global markets, all anchored in Amaravati.
“Quantum technology will define the next phase of economic and strategic power,” Naidu told the students. “If we create the right ecosystem now, there is no reason why quantum computers should not be designed, built and scaled from Andhra Pradesh.”
The proposed Quantum Valley is being positioned as the anchor for this effort, modeled—at least rhetorically—on Silicon Valley. The idea is to concentrate research institutions, startups, manufacturers and a highly skilled workforce in one location, enabling faster innovation and tighter collaboration between academia and industry.
Naidu said the government is working on aligning universities and technical institutions with this vision, including curriculum changes in quantum physics, advanced mathematics, materials science and computing. He stressed that students would be central to the project, not just as employees but as researchers and entrepreneurs capable of building globally competitive companies from Amaravati.
The Chief Minister also underlined the symbolic importance of Amaravati itself. A greenfield city on the banks of the Krishna River, Amaravati was conceived as the new capital after Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated in 2014, replacing Hyderabad as the seat of government. Naidu argued that anchoring a frontier technology project like Quantum Valley in the capital would reinforce its identity as a future-ready, knowledge-driven city.
Officials said the Quantum Valley proposal is intended to position Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of India’s deep-tech push, at a time when global competition in quantum computing is intensifying. Further details on institutional partnerships, timelines and incentives are expected to be rolled out in phases.
