Amaravati:Andhra Pradesh Minister for Handlooms and Textiles S. Savitha announced that nine companies have expressed interest in investing in the state’s textile and apparel sector. These companies are set to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the state government during the upcoming CII Partnership Summit, scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15.

Minister Savitha held a review meeting with representatives of the nine companies at her chamber in the Velagapudi Secretariat, with five participants joining through video conference. Following the discussions, she confirmed that the companies are keen to invest in mattress manufacturing, apparel production, garment units, and polyester wadding plants.

The investors have also shown a preference for setting up their industries in Rayalaseema, she added. “The exact locations for these proposed units will be finalized during the Partnership Summit,” the minister said in a statement released on Wednesday.

Minister Savitha noted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s new Textiles Policy has created renewed investor confidence and positioned Andhra Pradesh as an attractive destination for textile and garment manufacturing. “Several entrepreneurs are showing keen interest, and more investors are expected to come forward in the coming months,” she said.

At the meeting, the minister felicitated four of the participating investors and assured them of full government support in land allocation, clearances, and infrastructure development.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary (Handlooms & Textiles) R.P. Sisodia, Commissioner Rekha Rani, and other senior officials.
