Andhra Pradesh Unveils Mega Tourism Push: Beach Shacks and Grassland Homestays to Revamp Visitor Experience

From Our Correspondent

Amaravati: In a major bid to transform Andhra Pradesh into a premier global tourist destination, the state government has announced a series of innovative development proposals and policies aimed at boosting coastal and eco-tourism.

The highlight of this mega tourism push is the introduction of a new Beach Shacks Policy, designed to rejuvenate the state’s massive coastline. Under this policy, the Excise Department has officially issued orders to permit the setting up of beach shacks that serve liquor along designated coastal stretches. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has identified specific locations across 12 coastal districts for this initiative. To ensure smooth implementation, the government will initially launch this as a pilot project at the popular Suryalanka and Visakhapatnam beaches before expanding it statewide.

Simultaneously, the government is tapping into the state’s pristine hinterlands by launching the Godavari Grassland Tourism initiative. As part of this eco-tourism drive, the government has decided to officially permit local homestays for tourists at the famous Gudisa Grassland, located within the Polavaram district limits. Known for its breathtaking panoramic views, misty hills, and lush green meadows, Gudisa is expected to become an eco-friendly hotspot. The introduction of regulated homestays will not only provide comfortable lodging for nature enthusiasts but will also generate sustainable livelihood opportunities for local tribal communities.

Tourism department officials stated that these dual policies—blending vibrant coastal nightlife with serene nature tourism—are part of a comprehensive strategy to attract both domestic and international travelers, boosting the state’s tourism revenue significantly over the coming years.
