Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to expedite the development of Bank Street in Amaravati and ensure that approvals for bank headquarters are processed without delay.

Chairing a CRDA Authority meeting at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office on Thursday, Naidu reviewed progress on the Financial District being developed in the capital region. The meeting focused on the establishment of headquarters and office complexes by leading banks in Amaravati.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that out of the 13 banks that have come forward to establish offices on Bank Street, 11 have entrusted construction responsibilities to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). Naidu instructed CRDA officials to ensure close coordination among all stakeholders so that construction works are completed within the stipulated timelines.

Digital Infrastructure a Priority

The Chief Minister stressed the need to create world-class digital infrastructure across Amaravati. He directed officials to ensure seamless phone, cable and internet connectivity throughout the capital city and avoid any bottlenecks in digital services.

Naidu also called for the development of digital infrastructure through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, saying that a modern capital city must be equipped with reliable and future-ready communication networks.

Focus on Affordable Urban Living

Emphasising that Amaravati should emerge as a highly liveable city, the Chief Minister asked officials to adopt measures that would reduce the cost of living for residents. He suggested promoting piped gas connections and the use of induction stoves, while also exploring advanced urban utilities such as district cooling systems.

According to Naidu, these initiatives would improve energy efficiency and enhance the quality of life for residents while supporting sustainable urban development.

Beautification and Tourism Development

The Chief Minister also directed officials to give priority to beautification projects across the capital region. He proposed maintaining water levels in the Krishna River stretch from Prakasam Barrage to Vaikunthapuram throughout the year, creating opportunities for tourism and recreational activities.

Naidu said the riverfront could support large-scale water sports, swimming and other leisure activities, making Amaravati an attractive destination for both residents and visitors.

Other Projects Reviewed

The CRDA Authority meeting also reviewed progress on several key infrastructure projects, including the Krishna river embankment works, development of Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) layouts in Undavalli village, construction of parking complexes, establishment of the Judicial Academy and compensation issues related to poultry farm structures in the capital region.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana participated in the meeting virtually, while senior officials from the Municipal Administration Department and CRDA attended the review.
