Visakhapatnam: Global technology giant IBM has expanded its presence in Andhra Pradesh by launching its new IBM Consulting FutureNow Centre in Visakhapatnam, reinforcing the city’s emergence as a major technology and innovation hub.
The facility, located at Lansum Square near Isukathota Junction, was inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh, along with IBM India and South Asia Managing Director Sandip Patel.
The FutureNow Centre will serve as a global delivery hub supporting IBM’s consulting services and AI-first digital transformation projects for clients worldwide. During the inauguration, Minister Lokesh was briefed on the Centre’s capabilities in AI governance, intelligent automation, and technology solutions for the chemicals and petroleum industries.
AI-Driven Global Delivery Hub
The Centre will provide consulting and technology services across several high-growth domains, including artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud, software engineering, data and analytics, cybersecurity, and enterprise transformation.
It will also specialise in AI-powered cloud transformation, platform engineering, service integration, quality engineering, and user experience solutions, strengthening IBM’s global consulting network while expanding its technology footprint in India.
Boosting Vizag’s Technology Ecosystem
IBM said the new facility reflects its continued investment in India’s innovation ecosystem and skilled workforce. With its growing talent pool, strong educational institutions and rapidly evolving technology ecosystem, Visakhapatnam is well-positioned to become a key global technology delivery centre.
The company also aims to develop a future-ready workforce by equipping local talent with advanced digital and AI skills while creating high-quality employment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.
Lokesh: Build a Complete Technology Ecosystem
Speaking at the launch, Minister Nara Lokesh said the new IBM Centre would strengthen Visakhapatnam’s position as a global destination for artificial intelligence, digital services and technology-led innovation.
“Our objective is not merely to attract technology investments but to create high-quality jobs, build future-ready talent and develop a complete ecosystem that enables Andhra Pradesh’s youth to participate in the global digital economy,” he said.
Lokesh welcomed IBM’s continued commitment to Andhra Pradesh and expressed confidence that the partnership would help establish Visakhapatnam as one of India’s leading centres for AI and digital transformation.

IBM India and South Asia Managing Director Sandip Patel said India has a unique opportunity to lead the world in the digital era as it moves towards the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
