Chintalapudi Laksmi Kumari was reappointed as Independent Director for a five-year term from January 9, 2026.
-
The company confirmed P. Rajesh Reddy as Whole Time Director, B. Sharat Chandra as CFO, and P. Hanuman Prasad as Vice President – Company Secretary & Head Legal.
-

Babu’s Track Record: Heavyweight in EV & Mobility
Mahesh Babu brings deep experience across the Indian mobility and electric vehicle sectors.
-
He most recently served as CEO of Switch Mobility, where he led the company’s push in electric buses, introduced India’s electric double-decker bus, and expanded Switch’s presence in commercial electric vehicles.
-
Prior to Switch, he held leadership roles at Mahindra Electric, including as COO.
-
He holds a postgraduate engineering degree from BITS Pilani, was a Fulbright Scholar, and completed executive-education at Carnegie Mellon, IMD Switzerland, and Yale University.
His industry experience spans over three decades, having started his career in the early 1990s and working with major players like Ashok Leyland in earlier years.
Strategic Implications & Challenges Ahead
Olectra’s decision to bring in Babu signals its intent to bolster its position in the electric bus space and potentially expand into newer segments. Underlying this move is the rapidly evolving Indian EV landscape—especially in public transport, where government programs like PM-eBus Sewa and PM E-Drive are pushing demand for electric buses.
That said, Olectra faces important challenges:
-
Sustaining order volume and margins amid supply chain uncertainties and stiff competition.
-
Ensuring execution capabilities across manufacturing, delivery, and aftersales.
-
Navigating regulatory and state-level buying decisions (for instance, cancellations by states can create headwinds).
Notably, in recent times Olectra has posted strong financial results: in Q4 FY25, its profit after tax (PAT) rose 39 % on a 55 % growth in revenue, driven by a 67 % jump in bus deliveries
