Jammalamadugu (Kadapa): In a major boost to regional industrialisation, JSW Group Chairman and Managing Director Sajjan Jindal announced a sweeping ₹50,000 crore investment package for Andhra Pradesh, anchored by the newly launched JSW Rayalaseema Integrated Steel Plant.
Speaking at the official project commencement ceremony alongside Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Jindal outlined a massive multi-sector map that promises to generate over 10,000 direct jobs across the state.
Tracing the Footsteps of a Global Giant
Addressing a massive public gathering, Jindal drew nostalgic parallels between the current deployment in Kadapa and the early days of JSW’s flagship plant in Bellary, Karnataka.
“Thirty years ago, when we started construction at Bellary, the atmosphere and the local energy were exactly like what we see here today,” Jindal remarked. “We started Bellary as a modest 1 MTPA unit, and through constant expansions, it has grown into a 20 MTPA facility—one of the largest steel plants globally. The Chief Minister has explicitly challenged me to make this Rayalaseema plant even bigger and more powerful than Bellary, and we are fully committed to achieving that vision.”
A Modern Hub for Local Youth
The JSW Chairman highlighted that the facility will not mirror old, labor-intensive manufacturing designs. Instead, it will operate as a highly automated, hyper-modern production hub. This technological edge is engineered to provide advanced industrial exposure and career pipelines for young men and women across the Rayalaseema region.
“Kadapa has historically been famous worldwide for its exceptionally strong stones and marbles. The people here are intrinsically resilient, and that same strength will now define the world-class steel and green energy produced from this soil,” Jindal added.
Lauding the ‘Five-Decade Vision’
Jindal spent a significant portion of his address praising Chief Minister Naidu’s long-standing credibility and administrative blueprint. He pointed out that Naidu’s unique economic approach has consistently earned respect from industrial leaders across India.
“When I speak with peers across the country, there is a consensus that very few leaders possess a vision that anticipates changes 50 years into the future,” Jindal stated. He reminded the audience that structural milestones like India’s comprehensive national highway architecture under the Vajpayee regime and the evolution of Cyberabad were driven by Naidu’s singular initiative.
Expanding Beyond Steel
The Rayalaseema rollout is part of a broader industrial pact between the JSW Group and the Andhra Pradesh government. Jindal confirmed that the comprehensive ₹50,000 crore capital deployment will simultaneously fund large-scale renewable energy systems, core mining structures, a major industrial park in Vizianagaram, and dedicated high-end tourism resorts near the Araku region.
The ceremony concluded with the official triggering of site construction works via a digital panel, marking the definitive end to years of developmental stagnation for the district.
